Council boss cleared of wrongdoing
A COUNCIL leader has been cleared after a police investigation into claims of corruption.
Jim Logue yesterday branded the episode a “failed smear attempt”.
The leader of North Lanarkshire Council, who has been a councillor for 40 years, said: “It is no surprise that Police Scotland have found no substance to the spurious allegations made against me.
“This whole episode has been a waste of time for the police and for the council.”
News of the probe emerged last month. It’s thought officers looked at Logue’s links to two private firms.
However, a police spokeswoman confirmed yesterday that no criminality had been established.
North Lanarkshire Council said Logue had been cleared of any wrongdoing.
