Kyle KO is big blow to fliers Raith

- GREIG THOMAS

IT’S been confirmed Kyle Benedictus broke his right leg on Saturday in a major blow for the Raith Rovers skipper and the League One leaders.

Benedictus, who will be out for up to eight weeks, was injured and taken off after 17 minutes in Raith’s 2-1 win over Ayr at Stark’s Park.

Rovers boss Barry Smith said: “We’ll be without Kyle for between six to eight weeks which is disappointing news.

“He’s been an ever-present for me this season so I’m hoping for a speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile, Dunfermline are confident Jason Talbot will be fit to face the Championship leaders St Mirren on Saturday – despite suffering three cuts to the head at the weekend.

Talbot picked up the injury winning a first-half penalty for the Pars in their 3-2 defeat by Morton at Cappielow when he was caught by Ross Forbes’s high boot.

But Pars boss Allan Johnston said: “He’ll be fine. It’s been a sore one but Jason didn’t need stitches in the end so I’m sure he’ll be fine for Saturday.”
