Rodgers wants his players breathing down the necks of PSG superstars

10 billionaires coming to Scotland it’s what we have to do.”

Rodgers won’t get a billion to spend before tonight but he expects a million in terms of effort and commitment from his players.

You can’t take a wallet on to the pitch and for 90 minutes Celtic and their boss believe they can compete.

Rodgers said: “This is a game to go and enjoy. Make no bones about it this is a superior team to us.

“But we take an attitude into the game. We’re very much a team and have the ability to play in this type of game. We have speed, strength and power so it’s a great chance for us to make a good start. It’s going to be a big challenge but one we’re determined to embrace.

“The beauty is we are not stiff and rigid in our way of working. Compared to this stage last season we have a lot more mobility, strength and power. That’s what this competition is about.

“When we prepare domestically you have a lot of the game, you are working on counter-pressing, getting the ball back quickly and having it for 70 per cent of the game.

“You find ways of beating teams who are sat a lot deeper. It’s a different strategy at this level.

“You still want to dominate the ball but it’s also about control of the game which sometimes comes without the ball. I’m looking forward to that element because we rarely get the chance to do that.

“At the highest level you must be confident on the counter-attack. It’s a balance. You must have resilience, courage, bravery, persistence. And a wee bit of luck along the way.

“This is a level where you have to stay calm. But it’s a game we’re really looking forward to.” CELTIC face a moneybags side tonight PSG who cost over £605million more than the Scottish champions to assemble.
