DRUGS PROBE INTO MICHIE GIRL DEATH
Suspect quizzed over Class A supply following tragedy at music festival
A MAN arrested on suspicion of murdering the daughter of Scots actor John Michie at a music festival has also been quizzed over the supply of a Class A drug.
The body of Louella Fletcher-Michie, 25, from London, was found in woods near the Bestival site at Lulworth Castle in Dorset at 1am on Monday.
A 28-year-old man from London, who knew Louella, was arrested on suspicion of her murder.
Dorset Police said the man, who is still under investigation but has been released, has also been interviewed on suspicion of supplying a controlled Class A drug.
A post-mortem examination showed no clear signs of an assault.
Further examinations, including a toxicology report, will take place to establish whether there were any substances in Louella’s system or other suspicious circumstances.
Former Taggart and Coronation Street actor Michie, 60, said Louella’s death at Bestival was a “tragic accident”.
He said the family had “lost an angel” but that the death was “not murder”.
Michie, who currently plays neurosurgeon Guy Self in BBC medical drama Holby City, added: “We’ve lost our angel. It’s not murder – they were friends. It was just a tragic mistake, a tragic accident.
“She touched so many lives. She was so very positive, so bright, so out there. She had such energy. The tributes to her have been incredible.”
Chriss and Tiffany Campbell Welch, the directors of Tiffany Theatre College in Southend, paid tribute to former student Louella.
They said: “Louella was a very gifted student, a beautiful young lady with a sweet soul who was well-loved by everyone, peers and mentors alike.
“She had a wonderful ability to light up the room with her smile.”
Scots actor Richard Wilson, a close friend of Michie and godfather to Louella, released a statement following news of her death. He said: “Richard Wilson, Louella’s godfather, was very, very attached to her and does not feel able to comment at this present time.”
In an interview with the Record in 2012, Michie told how Louella was born when he was acting in Wilson’s play Women Laughing in 1992.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Derbyshire, of Dorset Police, said: “We need to undertake a number of other examinations before we can establish why she died.
“A 28-year-old man, who was known to Louella, was arrested on suspicion of murder and supply of a controlled Class A drug. He has now been released under investigation.
“Our thoughts are with Louella’s family.”
