Scout chief axed for ‘clip on boy’s arm’

-

A SCOUT leader has been thrown out of the Scouts after a probe into what he called a “clip on the arm” of a misbehaving boy.

Scout bosses have stood by their decision to expel dad-of-two John Knox.

But the ex-BBC journalist called the probe a “kangaroo court”, adding that he’s “devastated” by the decision.

Knox, 67, of Liberton, Edinburgh, said he gave the 13-year-old “a clip” at a Scout camp in February, adding: “I hardly realised I had done it, so light was the touch.”

The boy accused Knox of assault and he was suspended.

Knox was expelled after investigators said he had been “talked to” about a previous incident. But Knox said he’d “never been involved in any disciplinary before”.

But the Scout Association said he was excluded for failing to comply with their code of practice.
