TOMMY IS READY TO GO AT LAST

GLASGOW bosses are ready to unleash Lions try star Tommy Seymour in their Pro14 glory quest.

The winger has been kept in cotton wool since returning from New Zealand in the summer.

With his batteries recharged Seymour looks certain to line up against Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park on Saturday.

Assistant coach Jason O’Halloran said: “Tommy is set to go if we decide to use him. We gave him an extra week or 10 days of a break and now he is enthusiastic and energetic. I think he’ll be keen to have a run.”

Despite winning the first two matches in the league, O’Halloran revealed there will be more sweeping changes.

He said: “Head coach Dave Rennie’s general philosophy is to rotate the squad and create competition for places.

“We’ve already used 26 or 27 guys in the first couple of games and I expect there to be four or five more newbies this weekend. I think that is a great situation to be in.

“The better sides don’t care too much about the opposition. They try to get their own nuts and bolts sorted out.

“Watching Leinster playing Cardiff last week, you could see that Leinster played Leinster’s game.

“I think all the successful sides do that. They don’t care too much about the others and that is a lesson we can take.

“Sure we might use one or two special tactics for opposition weaknesses when we identify them. But ultimately getting the Glasgow game sorted is the key to success.”

Cardiff will be without Lions skipper Sam Warburton who needs neck surgery.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh boss Richard Cockerill hailed the talents of Cammy Fenton after he clinched a Gunners deal.

The front-rower, 21, has earned a one-year deal after stints with the BT Sports Academy and London Scottish.

Cockerill said: “Cammy has shown he is able to perform at a high level. He’s a talented young Scot so it’s good to have him on board for the rest of the season.”
