Family say ‘no malice’ involved in tragedy
THE boyfriend of actor John Michie’s tragic daughter could have to wait several weeks to find out if he’ll face charges over hear death.
Ceon Broughton, 28, was arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying a class A drug after Louella Michie, 25, was found dead at the Bestival festival site in Dorset.
Taggart and Holby City star John said in a statement that his daughter may have taken an illegal substance before her death and doesn’t believe there was any malice involved.
Broughton, from London, was released on Tuesday after a post-mortem showed no clear signs of assault.
John said: “Our hearts are broken by this horrific tragedy.
“Louella inspired all who knew her with her joy of life.
“We do not believe there to have been any malice intended in Louella and Ceon’s weekend at Bestival.
“They appear to have taken an illegal substance but we would appreciate cautious and sensitive reporting until the facts are known.” Police said further tests, including a toxicology report, will take place over coming weeks.
The organisers of Bestival said they were “devastated” by Louella’s death and were supporting the police investigation.
Ex-Coronation Street actor John, 60, and his wife Carol – a former Hot Gossip singer – have two other children, Daisy and Sam.
The actor plays Guy Self in BBC medical drama Holby City.
He previously starred as Karl Munro in Coronation Street and Detective Inspector Robbie Ross in Taggart. Louella, an actress and dancer, was born when her father was acting in Women Laughing in 1992, which was directed by close friend Richard Wilson.
The Scots actor, who played Victor Meldrew in the BBC sitcom One Foot In The Grave, was godfather to Louella.
