Jack’s a king for Buddies

-

CAMMY SMITH insists it’s a joy to work for Jack Ross as they aim to keep St Mirren top of the Championship.

The former Aberdeen striker has been on top form in a sizzling start to the season, bagging four goals.

Smith, Gavin Reilly and Lewis Morgan have been a handful for defences and the Dons old boy says it’s all down to a great relationship with boss Ross.

Smith said: “I really enjoy working under the manager and that goes for all the boys. We enjoy training.

“The front three of Lewis, Gavin and myself has worked well this season.” BIG Don Draper knew a thing or two about advertising.

When he wasn’t smoking like a lum, knocking back Scotch and slapping secretaries on their bahookies, the Mad Men exec could have flogged ice lollies to the Eskimos.

But it wouldn’t have needed the famous marketing character to do a sales job on Murrayfield at the weekend.

The best adverts speak for themselves – the product does the talking.

The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) base and temporary home for Hearts was a giant billboard and like the best ads offered the promise of something better.

Bin Hampden, football should flit from Mount Florida and set up shop along with the rugger lads.

Steady on folks. Let’s not call in the removal men just yet.

Hampden might pose a ton of questions but that doesn’t mean Murrayfield is the answer.

It probably seemed that way on Saturday. The rugger gaff was picture perfect for the Jambos’ 0-0 draw with Aberdeen.

There were almost 25,000 fans with 7000 Dons punters packed in their section. Even half-full it came across as a top arena. No doubt it is. It will look even better when Rangers head there in a few weeks and take truckloads of punters with them.

But the way it looks on the telly is not quite how it seems for the fans in the ground.

Listen, Murrayfield is more than decent. It’s a fine stadium and well equipped to host big matches in either sport.

But it does have some of the same issues we use to batter Hampden over the head.

It’s fine if you are sitting in the corporate chicken wings
