had a young right-back and a right-back at centre-back, so we were up against it.

“We tried to play them at their own game and impose ourselves but they had superior quality on the night and we just have to accept that.”

This is not a new diagnosis – 12 months ago Celtic were in casualty after Barcelona’s surgical slaughter in the Nou Camp.

Neymar provided a link following his switch and Gordon reckons Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani are a decent match for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as the world’s best frontline.

He said: “It is close but arguably yes. The three of them – Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe – are pretty special and it looks like it will be that way for a long time to come.

“When you look at their movement, their pace and their finishing ability, it has to be one of the best forward lines around.

“The quality they’ve got is outstanding. It could take them very far in this competition.”

It doesn’t help standing back and admiring though.

Gordon said: “The gaffer wasn’t happy with how we pressed the ball – he wanted us to get closer.

“We allowed them too much easy possession.

“In saying that, I think there was one point when they had about 10 passes inside their own penalty box. We were pressing and trying to get the ball but they managed to play their way out.

“We still couldn’t get it.”

Anderlecht up next are more than decent but at least the Belgian champions are mere mortals.

Gordon said: “It will be another big game. We have to try to go there and get a result. In terms of the head to head, that could end up being important in the group.”

A decent result in Belgium and the Parkhead prognosis will be much healthier. CALVIN MILLER has ambitions of reaching the heights hit by Celtic team-mates Anthony Ralston and Kieran Tierney.

Full-backs Ralston and Tierney both started in Tuesday’s 5-0 thrashing at home to PSG.

And although Celtic were handed a harsh lesson, Miller insists he wants that kind of Champions League experience.

Miller, who played in the Under-19 version of the same fixture just hours before the senior clash at Celtic Park, said: “It’s brilliant. Tony and I have been training first-team every day so it just shows the manager trusts the young ones.

“Tony is aggressive and works hard – and that’s what the aim is at this level.

“The manager trusts us so I’m just going to keep on working hard and show him what I can do and hopefully I get another opportunity soon.

“I watch what Kieran does as well and try to take that into my game so I can learn the defensive side.

“The whole team are a great bunch of lads.

“They talk to you and don’t let you feel out of place – you feel like one of them.

“Even the manager as well, he takes you aside, talks to you and makes you feel comfortable.” NEIL LENNON insists he can lead Hibs to another famous cup win.

The Easter Road boss got used to winning the Premier League and domestic cups as a player and manager at Celtic and landed the Championship title in his first season in charge at Hibs.

So Lennon has set ambitious targets for his time at the club. He said: “I’d like us to be consistently top six, challenging for top four.

“I’d like us to keep attracting the type of player that will excite the fans and play the style of football that we want to play.

“At times last season it had to be attritional. This

season there’s less pressure and we can afford to be a little bit more expansive.

“What I’m looking for over the next three years at Hibs is some silverware and to be recognised as one of the bigger clubs in the country again.”

Lennon insists the backing of the supporters helped convince him to sign a new deal at Easter Road.

He added: “Big clubs have big supports and whether it be at Easter Road or away, in my time we’ve had a fantastic following.

“That has been part of my decision in wanting to stay. I owe the fans a debt of gratitude.” SCOTLAND fans have snapped up their allocation for next month’s World Cup showdown in Slovenia.

It means they have sold out every away World Cup qualifier this campaign on the Road to Russia 2018.

SFA bosses managed to secure an additional batch of tickets for the match in Ljubljana after initially being offered just 1230 briefs. That was increased to 2567 and they’ve gone already.

The Tartan Army have sold out all five of their away games and Scotland have been followed by a combined 23,926 away fans.
