Leave phones alone
THE consequences of Luke Pirie sending “angry” texts while driving were catastrophic.
The 23-year-old, who was speeding on an unclassified road, crashed on to the pavement and killed a two-year-old child. Little Harlow Edwards had no chance.
We can only imagine the pain and anguish suffered by Harlow’s mum who, one year on, still cries herself to sleep at the loss of her daughter.
Pirie was apparently in a bad mood when his reckless stupidity led to the death of a wee girl with her whole life ahead of her.
He will now have to bear the burden of what he has done.
And for the rest of us? We should reflect on times when we have the impulse to use our phones while driving.
We should know the price is just too high if something goes wrong.
In this case, it was the loss of a beautiful child and the despair of a grief-stricken mother.
