Nuisance call firm hit with £350k fine

-

A COMPANY who made a record 146million illegal nuisance calls in just four months have been fined £350,000 by watchdogs.

Your Money Rights bombarded victims with automated calls about PPI which left them feeling harassed and threatened, the Information Commissioner’s Office said.

The Wales-based business broke the law because they did not have the consent of the people they were calling and failed to include the firm’s name and contact details in their recorded messages.

Steve Eckersley, ICO head of enforcement, said: “We’re cracking down on illegal automated calls on behalf of the British public.

“They are a blight on society that disregards people’s right to have their wish for peace and quiet in their own home respected.”
