En­ergy bills top voter con­cern list

SOAR­ING en­ergy prices are one of vot­ers’ top con­cerns, ac­cord­ing to re­search.

More than half of 2000 peo­ple sur­veyed (56 per cent) be­lieve the is­sue should be a pri­or­ity for politi­cians.

The find­ings were re­leased just af­ter a tar­iff hike pre­vi­ously an­nounced by Bri­tish Gas came into ef­fect, adding £76 to the av­er­age an­nual dual fuel bill.

In Which?’s re­search, only so­cial care for older peo­ple (68 per cent) ranked higher as a con­cern.

Alex Neill, Which? man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of home prod­ucts and ser­vices, said: “Con­sumers are sick of the end­less de­bate about en­ergy prices and want ac­tion im­me­di­ately.”
