Vigurs: Our title contenders are all bang average
IAIN VIGURS is convinced Caley Thistle can mount a Championship title charge – because none of their rivals are cruising it.
Inverness have taken just four points from their first five matches, leaving them eight adrift of early pacesetters St Mirren.
But Vigurs believes Caley Jags can only get better while others seem set to take points off each other.
The 29-year-old said: “Every game has been hard but I’ve also taken a lot of confidence from the fact there’s not been any team that has blown me away.
“I know when we really start to gel and get the mix right between defending and attacking we can have a right good go at it.
“We have a lot of new players and a lot of young players without a great deal of first-team experience.
“Once everyone is up to speed we definitely can put together a strong challenge and hopefully a charge towards the title. There has not been any one team we’ve played against that has really blown me away.
“We lost the Dunfermline game 5-1 but we were equally as bad as they were good, so much of that was down to how poor we were.
“Apart from that, there’s not really been a team that has stood up and been counted.”
Newly-promoted Livi have drawn three of their opening five league games.
And boss David Hopkin said: “I’ve said from day one we have a target of remaining in this league and if we can get a result in Inverness then it’s going to put down another marker towards that goal.”
