DONS ARE WINNERS JUST LIKE CELTS

- FRANK GILFEATHER

ABERDEEN don’t have the big budget of Celtic but Ryan Christie insists they have the same winning mentality.

The midfielder, on a season-long loan from the Hoops, believes Brendan Rodgers’ side won’t suffer a Euro hangover back on domestic duty after their pasting by PSG.

The Dons and Celtic are neck-and-neck in the table and Christie claims the demands at both clubs are exactly the same – they always expect to win.

Ahead of today’s clash with Kilmarnock, he said: “It comes down to attitude and mindset at a club, even if you don’t have the budget that the likes of Celtic do.

“As long you have that mindset of wanting to be successful.

“A lot of people say ‘I hope Celtic drop points after midweek games’ but the reality is they have so many good players that it doesn’t come into it.”

The Hoops finished a massive 30 points ahead of Aberdeen last season but Christie believes the squad Derek McInnes has assembled is good enough to close the gap in this campaign.

He said: “If you look at our squad, the depth we have is probably an improvement to previous season.

“You look at our bench and every single player on it, you could argue, is a starting player. That’s a great thing to have. Good players can come on and make an impact – and that will only help.”
