Johnson sums up Brexit shambles

-

BY ORDINARY standards Boris Johnson would be out on his ear as the Foreign Secretary this morning.

Having launched a failed coup against his leader, undermined the Prime Minister’s Brexit negotiating strategy, been reprimanded by the statistics authority for twisting the truth with his figures, and then being shamed for lying outright about the original reprimand, he should be toast.

But Johnson marches on, borne on the shoulders of bonkers Brexit-supporting Tories, who will put their imperial daydream ahead of what is good for the country and their own party.

Theresa May, adrift on her sea of Brexit woes, is powerless to lift a hand against him.

He sums up how this shambles of a Government will drive us on to the hard rocks of Brexit talks.

Johnson is a liability for Britain, a buffoon, who because he is upper class and his parents could afford an education for him, is somehow indulged as a national treasure. We should see him as others see him. On the morning of the Brexit result, French newspaper Liberation reprinted that famous picture of Johnson stuck on a zipwire, his trousers trussed up around his crotch by the harness, a Union Jack flag dangling in each hand. “Good luck,” the French wrote.

It is time for to May to cut the cable from which Johnson hangs, for her own good and for the country’s.
