MIAMI LOOK

-

collaboration between a beauty company and a supermodel such as Kate Moss, or products from a range created by a pop princess, such as Rihanna, whose new Fenty Beauty make-up line caused near stampedes at stores around the world last week. But the most luxurious and covetable celebrity make-up collection in recent times is Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder. When she teamed up with the American beauty giants last year, the talented Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer described it as a “dream come true,” as she had long fantasised about having her own make-up line, and has loved make-up since she was a little girl who watched her glamorous mother’s make-up routine. Indeed, some of the packaging might have been inspired by Estée Lauder products that the young Victoria saw her mum using. When she was working on the Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder collection, she trawled the Estée Lauder archive and chose a design of textured case which dates back to the 50s. As a result, the compacts and lipstick cases in the range are weighty and have presence – along with an aura of old-school glamour and sophistication – while the products they contain are as cool and contemporary as you would expect from one of the most admired Rich with sultry, vibrant colour. Dewy flushed cheeks and warm bronzed skin, highlighted with rays of gold. Art Deco electric blue provides a cool accent. fashion designers of the moment. That said, one of the products which generated the most excitement is a reworking of a discontinued Estée Lauder highlighting powder called Modern Mercury (£55), which Victoria apparently used to stock up on from eBay once it was no longer available to buy from Lauder outlets.

That initial limited edition Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder collection comprised 15 items, which could be divided up to create four distinct looks, each inspired by one of Mrs Beckham’s favourite cities.

She said: “When I’m in different places I tend to change how I dress and the make-up that I wear.”

For the second collection, Miami has been added to the existing list of look-inspiring cities – London, New York, Los Angeles and Paris.

Victoria explained the idea behind breaking the collection down into five different looks is all about “reflecting my

own personal beauty vision” while keeping things as uncomplicated as possible.

She added: “I want to make it simple and easy for the customer so she knows she can rely on me to get the full make-up look and each look is four to five products max. This doesn’t have to take up huge amounts of time.”

Of course, Victoria is known for her smoky eye look, which is represented in the collection as the London Look.

Last year’s London Look comprised sooty black eyes, oil-slick eyeshadow and nude polished lips. The 2017 version includes an eye smoked with grey and berry and a more intense, matte nude lip.

The collection doesn’t include foundation but does have Victoria’s “signature pieces” – the sell-out moisturiser/primer Morning Aura Illuminating Crème (£72), new Skin Perfecting Powder (£62), use-anywhere illuminator Aura Gloss in Honey (£30) and Eye Ink Mascara in Blackest (£36).

She said: “My experience in front of the camera has taught me how the right light can create the perfect skin tone and texture and give definition to bone structure. These signature products recreate the same effect. They are all you need for fresh, glowing skin and beautifully defined features.” ● Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder is available at Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh, and online at www.esteelauder.co.uk, www.victoriabeckham.com
