MARTI’S LAGER TOPS

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

THE drinks are on Martiloo in the Belhaven Lager Handicap Chase at Kelso (6.00).

Pauline Robson’s mare has taken well to chasing and produced a career best when slamming the useful Welcome Ben at Perth last time.

A 10lb higher mark demands more but the seven-year-old is lightly-raced over fences and can improve past some exposed rivals.

Malcolm Jefferson’s Sweet Holly (4.30) looks a value bet in the novices’ hurdle. The six year old bolted up in a decent event at Market Rasen last month and is on a workable mark thanks to Jamie Hamilton’s 3lb claim.

Sendiym (5.00) rates the safest option in the Salmon Fishers Handicap Chase. The 10-year-old is a great servant to Dianne Sayer and fairly well handicapped over fences after a good timber fourth at Sedgefield.

Snowed In (5.30) can freeze ’em out for Barbara Butterworth in the Epds Handicap Hurdle.

The eight-year-old was a fine second to the re-opposing Baraboy at Cartmel and can reverse those placings on today’s weights.

Beeno’s (6.30) is no laughing matter in the feature Bannerman Handicap Hurdle.

Kenneth Slack’s gelding rounded off his hat-trick in style at Cartmel last time and can shrug off another hike under 7lb claimer Robert Hogg.

Dynamic (3.40) should easily be capable of living up to her name in the Jack Pennington Handicap.

William Haggas’ filly looked a nice prospect when hacking up in a Newmarket maiden last month and can do damage sent handicapping.

Mister Blue Sky (4.15) can call the tune in the Molson Coors Handicap at Sandown.

Sylvester Kirk’s grey improved again when scoring over course and distance last time and this consistent type can follow up despite a 5lb penalty.

Beautiful Morning (3.50) can claim Yarmouth’s John Musker for Jessica Harrington. The filly found only the classy Shamreen too good in the Group 2 Blandford at the Curragh and can go one better back in Listed company.

Trainer Stephen McConville and his son Michael have both been hit with bans for doping by the BHA.

The Northern Irish pair have been disqualified for three years after Anseanachai Cliste tested positive for cobalt before this year’s Foxhunters Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
