Fraser: I’d be starter if Strachan made trip
RYAN FRASER claims Gordon Strachan does not pick him to start for Scotland because he plays too far south.
The Bournemouth ace was this week named in the squad for the do-or-die World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Slovenia.
The winger, 23, has revealed his frustration at not getting on the pitch during the last batch of qualifiers and says Strachan doesn’t come and watch him.
He said: “For Scotland it’s one of them where I’m young so I want to go in and impress. When you don’t play it’s hard to take when you think should be playing.
“I don’t think they come and watch too many games down here. I’m the other side of the country. They probably should.”
Fraser, who debuted as a sub against England in June, hinted he believes Strachan gives special treatment to the Celtic contingent.
He said: “I try my best to impress in training but I suppose he’s got his players, like the Celtic boys, he likes to play.
“They’re doing so well and play together every week.
“But I want to play. I don’t want to go again and not play. That will be annoying.
“I don’t speak to him. When I’m there I have a word with him and stuff like that but the first game killed me a little bit, then the second game and injuries killed me again.”
