BANK ON A WINNER

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

CASH in with BEAT THE BANK in the Group Two Joel Stakes at Newmarket today.

The three-year-old hasn’t looked back since stepped up to a mile by Andrew Balding and oozed class when landing a Group Three at Glorious Goodwood.

The son of Paco Boy remains unexposed and should take a step up in class in his stride (3.35).

AMABILIS (1.50) can blossom for trainer Ralph Beckett in the Rosemary Stakes. The ChampsElysees filly has run with credit in decent company and stayed on the upgrade when bolting up at Ascot last time.

That triumph earlier this month was a career best and the three-year-old is open to plenty of improvement at Listed level.

FLEUR FORSYTE (2.25) can reign in a trappy renewal of the Princess Royal. James Fanshawe’s filly has been in terrific form and took another step forward when slamming class act More Mischief in the Galtres Stakes at York. That is unlikely to be the limit of her ability and she can follow up with the forecast rain in her favour.

And it will come as little shock if LIGHTENING QUICK (3.0) claims the Rockfel for Ger Lyons.

The Frankel filly is highly regarded by owners Qatar Racing and learned plenty when cosily landing an 18-runner maiden at Leopardstown three weeks ago.

The juvenile is open to plenty of improvement and can enter the reckoning for the 1000 Guineas against some exposed rivals.

■ Enable heads a top-class 18-strong field for Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

John Gosden’s filly will bid to land a fifth Group One win in a row in the Chantilly spectacular.

Her main rival is likely to be Sir Michael Stoute’s Ulysses while classy colts Brametot and Zarak head a potent local challenge.

Ryan Moore will partner Winter who heads a five-strong raiding party for Aidan O’Brien that includes Order Of St George, Capri, Seventh Heaven and Idaho.

Prix Foy victor Dschingis Secret has a big shout for Germany while hopes of a first Arc success for Japan rest with Satono Diamond.

■ Elarqam took the next step in living up to his pedigree as the Mark Johnston-trained colt made it two wins from two.

The 1.6million guinea purchase, whose father Frankel and mother Attraction won the 2000 and 1000 Guineas, landed the Group Three Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket.

Johnston said: “It was the most nervous I’ve been for years, maybe since his mother ran.

“It’s not the size of the race – it’s when nothing but first will do.”
