TICKETS to Scot rockers Runrig’s farewell gig at Stirling Castle have been hijacked by touts.

Briefs sold out minutes after going on sale at 10am yesterday on the official Ticketline website.

But soon after, the £49 standing tickets were available on secondary ticket sites for £234 – a move that’s angered fans desperate to say farewell to the band after a 45-year career.

Billed as one of the biggest events they have ever staged, the celebration held at Stirling’s City Park against the backdrop of Stirling Castle, on August 18 next year, will be a thank-you to those who have followed Runrig over the decades.

William Laing was among those fans left furious when he missed out on tickets and blamed touts for buying scores of them as soon the sale went live.

He said: “It’s unfair to real music fans and these touts have to be stopped.”

William, 65, from Falkirk, received an alert from Ticketline telling him the tickets were about to go live and logged on immediately. He said: “All the Runrig tickets just said sold out. I couldn’t believe it.

“The site kept directing me to sites like Viagogo and Getmein! where tickets were £175. I wanted a standing ticket which was £49 face value.”

SNP MP Pete Wishart, a former member of the band, last night said: “Having this brought home so locally, I will be continuing to do all I can to have the secondary ticket market addressed.”
