STOPPER WAS BEL OF THE BALL
Brendan Rodgers has had at Celtic where he’s expected to win he has won. That is pressure.
Going into the game everyone was saying it was the big game in Group B. We knew PSG and Bayern Munich would be tough so people looked at Anderlecht as must-win but it’s easier said than done.
The players still have to go and perform – and they did. Celtic need their big players to be fit for them to be successful in Europe and they need Scott Brown who went off injured.
Celtic are a different team without Brown, although Nir Bitton and the rest of the substitutes did really well in Belgium.
The minimum Celtic can expect now is Europa League football after Christmas but it’s too early to say this team can go on a run in that competition. Rodgers won’t be looking too far ahead either but his team had to respond after a humiliating defeat and they did in a really good manner.
Returning to domestic action against Hibs today, it be an emotional return to Parkhead for my old team-mate Neil Lennon who will find himself in the strange situation of being in the away dugout.
You wouldn’t put it past him getting a result either. Celtic will make wholesale changes so there’s a chance.
I like what Neil has done at Hibs and his team should have more points on the board. It would be typical Lenny to go back and get a result.
He went to Ibrox and got a win earlier this season but we all know that’s a bit different!
