CRAIG LEVEIN admits he admires Neil McCann for having the guts to swap a cushy seat in the Sky Sports studio for the Dens dugout.

But he hopes the Dundee gaffer is left with a defeat to analyse today as Levein looks to stretch his unbeaten run at Hearts to four games.

Levein has returned to the frontline himself after spending the last three seasons as director of football at Tynecastle.

He knows how hard life as a gaffer can be and that’s why he praises McCann for giving up a far more secure job as a television pundit.

The Jambos boss said: “Good on him. Neil sat in front of a TV camera for a long time and he’s actually very good at it.

“It’s a hugely brave decision to go from that comfortable environment where you don’t really get questioned on the comments that you make.

“You don’t have to be in the arena competing.

“He has chosen to go from that comfortable, pretty easy lifestyle, back into coaching.

“That’s really brave. There are some others who sit in their ivory towers and haven’t got the b***s to go and try it.

“Shame on them! It’s not easy. It’s easy to sit in a TV studio and talk about something that’s happened and what players should have done but you never have to prove anything.

“I have done this before and I’ve done it for a long time. So for me it was an easier step.

“So all credit to Neil. However, that doesn’t stop me from hoping his team gets beat this weekend.”
