Racer Jock hit with 6 month ban for baring his cheeks at rally event
MOTOR sport chiefs have banned and fined a Scots rally ace for baring his bum while marshalling at an event.
Jock Armstrong was carpeted for mooning during the Solway Coast race in August.
At a hearing in London, the Motor Sports Association fined the 2015 and 2016 Scottish rally champion £1000 and banned him from competing for six months.
But Jock, 47, of Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, insisted his prank was a bit of harmless fun witnessed only by his friend – motor sport snapper Eddie Kelly.
Jock said: “There was only myself and the photographer at a nonspectator stage.
“They said I’d brought the sport into disrepute. In my eyes, there would need to have been some complaints but there weren’t any.
“There were 194 comments on Facebook, which were all good.
“I didn’t expose myself to anyone. I was 50 metres from the road in a field and Eddie was a further 70 metres back with a long lens camera.
“I said to Eddie, ‘Get a picture of this.’ It was a laugh. I told him to send it to me and I’d stick it up in the workshop.
“Eddie posted it on Facebook. It got 20,000 hits but there were no bad comments.
“It showed the side of my a**e and I end up getting fined £1000 and banned for a joke between mates.
“I suppose you have to take blame for your actions and it has brought a bit of embarrassment on myself.”
In a Facebook statement, Eddie said: “I feel hugely disappointed for Jock and to some degree responsible for upsetting someone (whoever that is).”
The Record contacted the MSA and were told the findings were still being “typed up” for the website.
