A FURIOUS dugout row between goal hero Liam Polworth and coach Scott Kellacher took the shine off Caley Thistle’s cup cruise against Peterhead.

The midfielder’s deflected strike put Inverness in command after just 90 seconds.

Further goals from Ricky Calder and Daniel Mackay sealed a comfortable win but things kicked off when Polworth was subbed four minutes from time.

He and Kellacher had to be separated by boss John Robertson.

The good news for the Highlanders is scorer Calder believes he is starting to fulfil a promise to Robertson.

He said: “When I first came here I said I wanted to add more goals to my game and I’ve done that.

“I’m always shooting in training but in the first half I saw Connor Bell in the box so tried to square it to him to get an assist.

“But I’m looking to get more goals. Hopefully this win can be the start of something for us.”

Peterhead skipper David McCracken felt Calder’s goal early in the second half killed their chances of an upset.

He said: “We were in the game for long spells and recovered well from the loss of the goal right at the start of the game.

“It hurt to then give away a second goal right at the start of the second half too.

“Our confidence took a dent after that and left us with it all to do. But we had some decent spells of play overall.

“We have to take the parts of the game where we did do well and do it in the league.”
