Jimmy’s joy at tracing his Scots family
SINGER Jimmy Osmond has thanked the Daily Record for putting him in touch with his long-lost relatives from Lanarkshire.
He arrived in Glasgow with brothers Jay and Merill yesterday ahead of their gig with acts including David Essex and Suzie Quatro at the SSE Hydro tonight.
Jimmy was inundated with replies from Scots cousins after an appeal in the Record in 2015.
The 54-year-old singer learned his great-great-great grandparents were William Birrell and Mary Neil, from Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
He said: “We had a bunch of people say they were related to us and we figured out that they were.
“We have a whole report on it thanks to the article. We’d love to follow up on it but we’re so busy we never get the chance.”
