YOU could not fail to be moved by the Downing Street plea of William Irving for his dad’s release from an Indian jail.

Ex-paratrooper Billy has been incarcerated for four years after authorities there accused him of possessing illegal weapons.

He insists he was merely doing his job as a maritime security contractor protecting commercial shipping from Somali pirates.

It’s obvious this is all a major misunderstanding that is having a devastating impact on a two-year-old Scot.

The British Government must do all they can to secure Billy’s return home.
