Buses back on the Forth Road Bridge

- CATRIONA WEBSTER reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

BUSES will be able to use the Forth Road Bridge from today in the first phase of its reopening.

The bridge has been closed for roadworks since the opening of the Queensferry Crossing.

It will reopen for some bus services today with other buses, taxis and motorbikes to follow at a later date.

Traffic Scotland operator manager Stein Connelly said: “The transfer of public scheduled buses on to the Forth Road Bridge marks the next stage of the Queensferry Crossing project.”

After congestion on the £1.35billion new route, Transport Scotland said journey times were returning to “more usual levels”.

The speed limit on the Queensferry Crossing is due to rise to 50mph in the coming weeks.
