It’s not even Hal­loween yet but some chil­dren are al­ready dream­ing about De­cem­ber 25 – here are the must-have presents that could be on their wish­list

SANTA’S go­ing to need a lot of bat­ter­ies and charg­ers in his sleigh this year – as re­tail­ers pre­dict hi-tech toys will top Christ­mas lists. High-street toy firm Ham­ley’s have re­leased their top 10 most wanted list for 2017 – and it’s a mix­ture of old favourites such as Star Wars, Barbie and Fish­erPrice along with new pre­tenders like TV he­roes PJ Masks and Tyler the Play­ful Tiger.

The key theme is an in­creas­ing in­ter­ac­tiv­ity, ar­tif­i­cal in­tel­li­gence and tech­nol­ogy – from dolls to ac­tion toys and play­sets.

THIS in­ge­nious lo-fi toy is a twist on the ”no thumbs chal­lenge” in which play­ers com­pete head-to-head in games with­out us­ing their thumbs.

Play­ers wrap their thumbs in the in­cluded hand bands so they can’t use them. Then a player picks a card that will give a task such as draw­ing. Suit­able for ages 8+, £21. charge-free – the Nerf gun/ car set and a quirky hand­held chal­lenge game – as the tech craze booms.

Ham­ley’s head buyer Vic­to­ria Kay said: “We’ve seen a lot of tech for tech’s sake in the past few years.

“Now, whether it’s a plush or a more so­phis­ti­cated Lego build, they are get­ting smarter in how kids can per­son­alise and pro­gramme them.”

PAR­ENTS of pre-school­ers will be well-ac­quainted with the Dis­ney Jr smash hit PJ Masks, about nurs­ery kids who be­come crime­fight­ers by night when their jam­mies turn into su­per­hero cos­tumes.

This dou­ble-sided play­set is more than two feet tall and has three lev­els filled with en­gag­ing, kid-pow­ered fea­tures al­low­ing them to choose a mis­sion and ac­ti­vate phrases and the catchy theme song.
