GRAEME SOUNESS

GORDON obviously felt he had taken Scotland as far as he could.

Had we qualified or got second he would have stayed and looked forward to the next Euros possibly. It is all about results and Gordon has not got what he wanted.

There are some good Scotsmen out there who could do the job. There are some fabulous candidates and someone who knows what is happening in Scottish football would be paramount.

DAVIE PROVAN

I AM not surprised as I don’t think the SFA had any alternative.

Gordon himself would have to admit he has been given a fair crack of the whip over almost five years and two campaigns.

There are a list of names out there, like David Moyes, but I don’t think he could be attracted back into football for the Scotland job.

Given the choice, the fans would all want a Scot but the SFA should not close the door on a foreign appointment.

KRIS COMMONS

THE play-offs were the minimum for Scotland and the nation is on a downer. Something needs to change and maybe fresh blood might bring a bit of energy in to the squad.

The worry for me is the candidates being mentioned, there’s no one to really get you off your seat.

Moyes has not had a great deal of success in recent years and Malky Mackay has been out of football management for a while.

KRIS BOYD

I’D prefer the manager to be Scottish but we have seen all over the world countries appointing foreign managers and that can work.

We need to be open to anything that will give us the best chance of qualifying for a major tournament. We have tried everything else.

Whoever comes in will be inheriting a good bunch of players. We are playing well, unbeaten in 2017 and ended the campaign strongly. The damage was done at the start.
