A BIG TOUR DE FORCE

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

ENJOY a winning start to the week courtesy of BIG TOUR (2.50) in the Racing UK Handicap at Musselburgh.

Saeed bin Suroor’s gelding has been upwardly mobile over seven furlongs this season and produced another career best when hacking up at Yarmouth last month.

I don’t think we’ve seen the best of this classy son of Dubawi who can defy a 5lb penalty in a competitive contest.

Kevin Ryan’s AL HAWRAA (2.20) looks best bet in the trappy Stanley Guthrie Handicap. The filly was doing all her best work late when scoring over 1m 1f at Hamilton last time and should build on that effort over an extra three furlongs.

ORNATE (3.20) can bag his third win this season in a cracking renewal of the Flying Scotsman. Robert Cowell’s sprinter was a good third behind the reopposing Alpha Delphini in a similar event at Beverley and can exact revenge at today’s weights.

ECONOMIC CRISIS (3.50) can enhance her excellent record at the Lothian venue in the sprint.

Alan Berry’s mare has hit form recently and remains on a workable mark after her fine second over course and distance a week ago.

GABRIAL THE TIGER (4.20) can pounce for Richard Fahey in the seven-furlong handicap.

A three-time course winner, the gelding overcame a rotten draw when scoring at Chester last time and will take all the beating in a weaker contest.

SEXY LEGS (4.55) can put her best foot forward for Durham handler Rebecca Menzies. The ex-Irish mare made the best possible start for her new connections when scoring narrowly at Newcastle and remains well-handicapped on the pick of her old form.

ALJEZEERA (3.10) can hit the headlines in the Listed Beckford Stakes at Yarmouth.

Luca Cumani’s classy filly took another step forward when a good second in the Group 2 Park Hill at Doncaster and is open to plenty more improvement as a stayer.

MONAADHIL (5.40) can strike for the in-form Marcus Tregoning in the lucky last.

The son of Dark Angel cosily landed a Leicester maiden on his debut when last seen in August and can do plenty of damage switched to handicaps.

Meanwhile, tributes were paid yesterday to Ken Dooley, a groom with Pulborough trainer Amanda Perrett, who was killed in an accident in the stables at Kempton Park on Saturday night.

Surrey Police are investigating the incident that led to the abandonment of the final two races on the floodlit fixture.
