Bren’s Hoops will have to go for bold

- MICHAEL GANNON in Munich

RYAN KENT has warned Celtic they’ll need to be bold against Bayern Munich if they hope to stun the Bundesliga big guns.

The on-loan Liverpool youngster made his first start for Freiburg at the Allianz Arena on Saturday – a painful introduction as the champions served up a 5-0 hammering.

Midfielder Kent – linked with a move to Parkhead in the summer – said: “Every team comes here with a different mentality so it’ll be interesting to see how Celtic approach it.

“You have to get it right and set up tactically perfect against a team like Bayern.

“They have players who can really hurt you so you have to get it right tactically, they press you all the time right from the off. We struggled to deal with their midfielders pressing us and that’s where it was tough.”

Kent came through the Liverpool ranks under Brendan Rodgers and believes Celtic have a top boss in the dugout.

He said: “Brendan put me into the first-team squad and I went on a pre-season tour.

“He’s a great manager – a top manager and he helped me develop early in my career. He’s got a lot of time for the young players. So he was great for me and I owe him a lot.”

Kent knew Celtic were sniffing in the summer but added: “I then had the chance to experience something a bit different and coming to Germany’s helped me do that.

“I’m really enjoying it here. It was an amazing experience to step out in the Allianz Arena. It’s a very difficult place to come to.”
