MOTHERWELL midfielder Allan Campbell admits he is desperate to repay manager Stephen Robinson’s faith in him after signing a new four-year deal.

The Scotland Under-21 star penned a long-term contract at Fir Park last Friday after becoming a mainstay in the side at the start of this season under the Northern Irishman.

Campbell’s form was also recognised by his country after the 19-year-old featured in the recent Under-21 Euro qualifiers against England and Latvia.

The youngster is relishing playing under Robinson and is determined to make sure his standards do not drop after agreeing fresh terms.

He said: “It has been brilliant. The gaffer has given me a chance and I really appreciate that. I want to do well for him, keep proving to everybody what I can do and hopefully kick on.

“It shows he has a lot of faith in me and I feel trusted. So I need to go out there and show why he is picking me.

“Motherwell have been great with me. I’ve been here since Under-10s and it’s the best club for me to develop. I’m looking forward to the next few years.

“It was also brilliant to play against England and Latvia and see boys around about your age.

“It was a good experience. My first priority was just getting into the team and everything else is a bonus.”
