Don’t worry.. just be more active

- MARIA CROCE

WORRYING about the way you look gets worse after you hit 35 with changing weight or losing shape the biggest concern for women.

And almost half of women between 35 and 50 would consider cosmetic surgery to make themselves look more youthful.

According to a survey by personal fitness trainers Nuyoo.co, 64 per cent in this age group are also trying to lose weight.

More than half admit they worry about their appearance with more than a third saying they avoid looking in the mirror as much as possible.

Around 61 per cent of women said they felt self-conscious about their body shape and appearance when they get undressed.

Earlier this year, a Harley Street cosmetic surgeon said that the average age of women going under the knife is now 39 – down from 42 three years ago.

Nuyoo discovered that people who were active were more satisfied with their weight and body image than those who did not exercise often, or at all.

Will Hawkins, a nutritionist at online GP service Push Doctor, said: “Eating a diet that’s rich in lean protein (chicken, turkey, tofu), nutritious carbs (vegetables, fruits), complex carbs (rice, pastas, grains) and healthy fats (eggs, avocado, nuts, fish), while cutting down on refined carbs, sugar and hydrogenated fats, is a great start to dieting.

“Drinking lots of water is also important. Throw in at least half an hour a day of exercise and you’re on the right track.” ● www.nuyoo.co
