RICH’S JUMP START

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

LALOR (2.50) can kick off his hurdling career in the best possible style at Exeter.

Richard Woollacott’s stable star was progressive in bumpers last season and signed off with a good win in Grade 2 company at Aintree in April.

The five-year-old has been handed a stiff task on his timber debut but should still have too much class for some promising opponents.

Tom George’s CERNUNNOS (3.20) can continue his revival in the 188bet Handicap Chase. The gelding put in his best effort for a while when beating the useful What Happens Now at Bangor and is well handicapped on his novice form.

SUTTER’S MILL (3.50) can take a trappy handicap hurdle for Evan Williams.

The six-year-old was a fine second to the progressive Quarenta over 2m 5f at Warwick and can go one better back over three miles. The Welsh handler can bag a quick double with the thriving MARKET ROAD (4.20).

The grey scored tidily over fences at Ffos Las and remains on a fair mark over timber thanks to Mitchell Bastyan’s 7lb claim.

YANWORTH (4.50) should make a winning fencing debut in the beginners’ chase.

A Grade One winning hurdler, Alan King is confident about the gelding’s future over fences and can open his account with the minimum of fuss.

LINA’S STAR (3.00) can sparkle for David O’Meara on a competitive card at Yarmouth. The filly showed a willing attitude to prevail on the all-weather at Newcastle and can follow up.

TWILIGHT SPIRIT (4.30) won’t be far away in the trappy Great Yarmouth Handicap.

The gelding clearly benefited from first-time blinkers when outpointing the useful Vixen at Salisbury and can go in again off an inviting mark.

● Aidan O’Brien could be mob-handed in Saturday’s Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster as he tries to break Bobby Frankel’s record of 25 top-level wins in a year. The Ballydoyle handler has entered 12 in the one-mile contest headed by leading Derby fancies Saxon Warrior and The Pentagon along with Dewhurst second Mendelsshon.

However, O’Brien won’t have things all his own way with Jim Bolger’s Verbal Dexterity and John Gosden’s Roaring Lion also among the entries.

● Queen’s Trust will try to retain her crown in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar on November 4.
