Cooper: It’sagood timeto getCelts
NEALE COOPER insists the fact Celtic have played two tough games over four days can help Aberdeen put them to the sword at Pittodrie.
The Gothenburg Great admits he’s a big admirer of Brendan Rodgers’s side but doesn’t see them as unbeatable.
And he’s praying the heavy defeat against Bayern Munich last Wednesday and a hard-fought win over Hibs in the Betfred Cup semi-final on Saturday might have an adverse effect on the Hoops tomorrow night in the top-of-the-table tussle.
The ex-Reds midfielder said: “Celtic are not invincible but they’ve been by far the best team in Scotland for many years.
“They have so many quality players but it’s a hard spell for them with the Champions League game in Munich and the League Cup semi-final against Hibs.
“It might take a wee bit out of Celtic although they have strength in depth.
“Aberdeen go into the game fresh on the back of playing well recently and not having had a game for 10 days since they beat Hibs.”
Cooper, now recovered from a heart scare two months ago, recalled how he was handed his first outing against the Hoops as a 16-year-old in November 1980 when he travelled to Glasgow as a helper to kitman Teddy Scott.
Cooper 53, said: “I featured alongside Alex McLeish with striker Walker McCall hitting two goals for a 2-0 win. I was barely out of school.”
