Hook maniac disembowels victim, 23, in house attack
Police brand brutal onslaught on former sports shop worker ‘cruel and unusual’
A HOOK-WIELDING maniac ripped out a man’s insides in a savage attack.
Police were yesterday hunting the crazed intruder after the horror unfolded in the early hours yesterday.
The victim, 23-year-old Paul Horsfield, miraculously survived being disembowelled at his home in Glasgow’s Drumchapel. He was yesterday in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
It is understood Paul had been involved in an “altercation” with a mystery man at his flat in Essenside Avenue and was then assaulted.
The attacker was said to have used a “hooked” implement to puncture Paul’s stomach and pulled out his intestines.
A police source said: “The victim said he was attacked by an unknown assailant in his home.
“From his injuries and his statement to police, it would appear his attacker has used a weapon with a hook to disembowel him.”
The source added: “The victim required surgery and has not yet given a full statement, so the circumstances are unclear.
“There is believed to have been some kind of altercation within the house and Mr Horsfield sustained very serious injuries.
“It’s a very cruel and unusual method of harming someone.”
Paul, who previously worked at JD Sports and is believed to have been a music student, is not known to police.
No one from his family was available to comment.
Police said: “A 23-year-old man was seriously assaulted at an address in Drumchapel at 12.30am on October 25. Inquiries are ongoing.”
