Aaron’s out to make his time Count

ROSS COUNTY keeper Aaron McCarey wants a glove affair with new boss Owen Coyle.

The Irishman was gutted to be dropped last month after a 4-0 defeat at Celtic and replaced by Scott Fox.

But he’s set to be given a run in the team again as Fox faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a thigh injury in the goalless draw at St Johnstone.

McCarey played the last 15 minutes at McDiarmid Park and is determined to show his worth – starting at Aberdeen this weekend.

The 25-year-old said: “I was disappointed to drop out of the team but managers are paid big money to make those decisions.

“Like it or not you just have to knuckle down and try to prove a point. I view this as an opportunity to impress the new boss.

“I was frustrated but I respect the manager’s decision and I’m not one for kicking doors down.

“It hurt me to be dropped but also gave me plenty of motivation to go in the next week to show my worth.

“Unfortunately, the manager who made that decision is no longer at the club so it’s a case of starting again under the new boss and there’s a clean slate for everyone.

“Owen’s been brilliant with us from day one and given everyone a chance and that’s all you can ask for.

“I’ll do my bit for the team if called upon on Saturday and look to continue our recent good run.

“It was difficult going on in those circumstances at McDiarmid Park but I was glad to get in and help Foxy keep his clean sheet.

“You always have to be ready and keep tuned in to what’s happening even when you’re on the bench.”
