LEAK WHO’S BACK

Miller set to skipper Gers today as Murty brings hitman in from the cold after axed Pedro’s mole hunt

KENNY MILLER has been handed an immediate recall by Rangers in the wake of Pedro Caixinha’s sacking – and could be given the armband at Murrayfield today. Caretaker boss Graeme Murty’s first decision after being catapulted back into top-team duties for

a second time was to bring back frozen-out Miller. The striker had been dumped out of the first team for the last four games of Caixinha’s disastrous reign amid accusations over leaks from the dressing room and splits in the camp.

The 37-year-old returns for today’s clash and Miller could lead the side with previous captains this season Lee Wallace, Bruno Alves and Graham Dorrans all out.

Caretaker Murty, who had Miller with his Under-20 squad during his top-team absence, said: “Kenny has a big influence in the changing room. It wasn’t for me to comment because I wasn’t in, I didn’t see what was going on.

“Every manager picks the squad as they see fit. Kenny is fit, he is available and I will be looking at all the players and picking a team from the squad of players who are fit.

“Kenny and Niko Kranjcar when he played against Dundee, as well as Aaron Nemane and Dalcio when they came down, they comported themselves very well and so did Danny Wilson.

“So I have no problems about the players in the squad. If they are fit for selection they will have an opportunity to play.”

Ryan Jack will also play after the club appealed the red card he received in the midweek draw with Kilmarnock, the third of his short Ibrox career although one was later rescinded.

Murty has also made it clear all injured and unavailable players are wanted at Murrayfield.

Caixinha stunned Wallace, Miller and Kranjcar by telling them to stay away from the Killie game.

But Murty said: “It’s important the players feel together. If the players know anything it’s that I want their input.

“They have to have a voice within the training session, within the dressing room, within the match prep because it is about them.

“All through my football career, all the way through my coaching career, it is more about the club you represent as opposed to an individual.

“We have to make sure all the players have a positive influence on their team-mates going forward so we can go forward as a squad.”

Murty insists he is not pushing for the full-time position. He said: “The best scenario for myself is to go and do really well – to win this game, to win the next one, for the club.

“If that means I learn more and become better then great.

“I haven’t ruled it out yet but I’m far more concerned with making sure the team get what they need.”
