I’ll get hat-trick at Murrayfield.. if you still get 3 points for shots flying over bar
KRIS BOYD has warned Hearts he’s ready to grab three at Murrayfield – if the rugby posts stay up.
But the Kilmarnock striker is deadly serious when he predicts fireworks on November 5 now Jordan Jones is finding his feet in senior football.
Boyd was denied twice by the woodwork and forced Ofir Marciano into two stunning stops as Hibs were flattered by a 3-0 win on Tuesday night.
He said: “I’ve never been to Murrayfield and going on my performance against Hibs I might end up with three goals if they are still giving out points for balls over the bar.
“We’ll probably never play at the stadium again and it will be a great occasion on Sunday. But the most important thing is a win to start climbing the table.”
Killie’s standout was once again Jones, the exMiddlesbrough kid whose blistering pace and eye for goal have earned him a Northern Ireland call-up.
And Boyd said: “At first he had all the tricks and flicks, typical of many kids from the English academy system. We were trying to play him in a wide role where he would take people on but there was no end product.
“Now he has started to listen to his team-mates. When you have that talent it sometimes annoys the life out of others when you do nothing with it.
“We can now see what he’s doing. He’s creating umpteen chances and the penny has finally dropped about what he can do and achieve in the game.”
Killie may have lost in Steve Clarke’s first home game in charge but their fans stayed to applaud.
Boyd said: “We usually get booed off for winning. Seriously, the fans have had a bit of frustration the last few years and you can see why.
“When you’re paying to watch a product that hasn’t been good enough I can understand why they’ve been frustrated.
“However, the numbers on a Champions League night were excellent and they saw the effort we were putting in. Hopefully with the gaffer coming in it underlines the vision of the board to take the club forward. It’s the fans who matter.”
