BAYERN BLOW LEFT US IN STUNNED SILENCE

CELTIC star Scott Sinclair has revealed the Celtic players were so gutted after bravely losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night that they were speechless.

But he insists they can take heart from the fact they went toe to toe with the German giants.

The Hoops players fed off a raucous Parkhead atmosphere for 90 minutes then sat in silence after their heartbreak­ing defeat.

As he reflected on Javi Martinez’s cruel winner, winger Sinclair said: “It was really disappoint­ing but it goes to show how well we did as a team. We were in that dressing room after full-time and everyone was silent, we had our heads in our hands.

“We went toe to toe with them and were a bit unlucky not to come away with a result.

“Bayern Munich could win the Champions League this season and we must remember that. We are going up against teams that can go all the way.

“For us it was just about trying to get out of the group stage. And now we haven’t been able to do that we are looking to get into the Europa League.”

Celtic started their Group B campaign with a 5-0 thumping against PSG before an impressive 3-0 win in Anderlecht. And they produced a much better display despite the defeat to Bayern on Tuesday than in the first game against the Germans when they lost 3-0 in the Allianz Arena.
