Belgian boss: PSG are best team in world

-

ANDERLECHT boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck insists Celtic will face the “best team in the world” in their next Champions League game.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are out of the tournament but still have two games left where they are huge favourites to secure third spot.

Up next is a daunting trip to Paris to face a PSG side who have dismantled both the Hoops and Anderlecht 5-0.

And the Belgian champions’ manager Vanhaezebrouck has handed the Scots a chilling warning ahead of the Parc des Princes showdown later this month.

He said: “I have watched many games in my life but this PSG side are the best team I have ever seen.

“If they were to play in the Champions League Final right now they would definitely win.

“But of course the Final will be played in May and other teams may get better by then.

“We all know just how strong PSG are.

“Our defence actually played very well and still lost five goals.”

And keeper Frank Boeckx accepted there was little they could do to stop the French multi-millionaires.

He said: “We have to be realistic – this was always likely to happen.

“The difference in class between us and PSG was sadly enormous.”

PSG gaffer Unai Emery is adamant his side have no intention of taking their foot off the gas despite securing a safe passage to the knockout phase.

The Ligue 1 giants now boast four wins from four games in Group B and have bagged 17 goals without conceding.

Nevertheless, Emery has vowed there will be no complacency when Celtic visit Paris in their next European fixture on November 22.

The Spaniard said: “We qualified, which was the most important thing, but the goal in this group is to finish first and we still have work to do against Celtic at home and against Bayern.

“We claimed the three points and it was important to perform well. We were excellent for the full 90 minutes.

“In the first game against Anderlecht we gave them too much space and conceded too many chances – this time we gave them nothing.”
