THIS WILL BE PURE MAGIC

PREMIERSHIP Neil: Clash with Hibs has makings of a classic

- EUAN McARTHUR

NEIL McCANN reckons Dundee’s clash with Hibs will be one for the purists because they both play the right way.

The Dens boss wasn’t surprised to see the Hibees burst Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock bubble in midweek as they romped up to third in the table.

The Dark Blues remain rooted to the bottom but McCann is refusing to ditch his philosophy of attractive passing football.

He has also been impressed with the style of play from Neil Lennon’s men and that’s why he thinks tomorrow’s game at Easter Road has the makings of a classic.

McCann said: “Hibs play football, we play football. So if you are a purist then you should get a really good contest. Hibs are without doubt one of the best sides we’ve played this season at Dens.

“We got a point – although it is probably the poorest we’ve played. Hibs were also impressive against Killie on a really difficult surface.

“Hibs didn’t shock me in any way with how well they played. There is a spark when they go forward.

“If you look at our game it has been so good and easy on the eye getting up to that final third but we are maybe not taking our chances or being clinical.

“It is hurting us but equally in our own back third we are coughing up a few soft goals.”

McCann also revealed Dens playmaker Scott Allan is back in training as he steps up his rehab from a hernia operation.
