BILL FOR McINNES IS £800k

-

From Back Page from Davie Moyes at the Stadium of Light.

And although the Dons boss subsequently put pen to paper on a bumper contract at Pittodrie the new deal contains the same release trigger.

It has been wrongly reported elsewhere that Rangers might have to come up with almost twice that amount in order to secure McInnes as a replacement for Pedro Caixinha.

But, as yet, there is no indication the Rangers board have initiated contact with Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne.

It’s understood the Ibrox club’s director of football Mark Allen has been tasked with drawing up a shortlist of targets and presenting it to the board.

But it’s now likely stand-in boss Graeme Murty will stay in charge for tomorrow’s visit of Partick Thistle while Rangers continue to weigh up their options.

Murty will have Ryan Jack available after the midfielder yesterday had a red card rescinded for the second time this season.

An SFA fast-track hearing overturned Jack’s dismissal f or hi s clash with Kilmarnock defender Kirk Broadfoot in the 1-1 draw.

He appeared to push, knee then move his head towards Broadfoot. Ref Alan Muir initially awarded a yellow card but changed it to red after being alerted by fourth official Scott Millar.

Jack, who had a red card against Hibs overturned on appeal, was dismissed for violent conduct seconds before Daniel Candeias missed a penalty and Gers conceded a late leveller.

The midfielder, also shown a red in the recent 4-1 win at Hamilton, has earned a call- up from interim Scotland boss Malky McKay for next week’s friendly against Holland.

The 25-year-old was last called up more than four years ago for a qualifier against Croatia.

And Jack said: “I ’m delighted. It’s always an honour to be called up to play for your country.

“I had a call-up a few years ago and it gives you a taste for being among it.

“Maybe I wasn’t expecting it but it’s a great feeling.”

Meanwhi l e, Mur ty reckons more Rangers players could follow Jack by breaking into the Scotland squad if they are “excellent” for the Ibrox side.

Asked if more players can earn a Scots call, Murty told Rangers TV: “I think so but what they have to be is excellent every time they walk on to the pitch.

“If we can have enough of those doing that on a consistently high basis then we could really push on.”

Murty also paid tribute to the fans who backed his side in huge numbers during their 3-1 win at Hearts.

He added: “It’s on a whole different scale to anything I’ve ever experienced.”
