FOREIGN Secretary Boris Johnson has been urged to step in to help a young Scot stranded in Spain after being falsely accused of running a cannabis farm.

Robbie Miller was arrested four days after moving into a rented flat in in La Linea de la Concepcion, beside Gibraltar – because of a cannabis plantation in another part of the property.

Police refused to take into account the fact the 24-yearold from Hamilton had just moved in and connected him to the discovery of the six plants weighing 15lb.

His passport was seized by a Spanish court and he was forced to sleep on a beach because a lack of documents made it difficult to secure accommodation.

Robbie’s MP Angela Crawley wrote a letter to Johnson urging the Foreign Office to ensure consular staff in Malaga offer him support after Robbie said they had done nothing so far. She said: “I will continue to monitor the situation.”

Robbie flew to Malaga on October 5, planning to enjoy a break then pick up a job as a software designer.

He rented a room in a shared flat with a British biker on October 16, days before the raid.

The man he rented a room from has sent Robbie messages acknowledging the Scot is innocent.

Robbie said: “I’m grateful for Angela Crawley’s quick response.

“I just want to get home as soon as possible.”
