TAKING over a team who are chasing a domestic treble with just a handful of games to go is a fairly unusual situation for any boss to find himself in.

But new Hibs Ladies head coach Kevin Milne is relishing his high-stakes role as he bids to add the SWPL1 title and Scottish Cup to the League Cup they’ve already won.

Milne took over after Chris Roberts quit for Bristol City and has enjoyed back-to-back victories against Spartans and Rangers.

He said: “One of the main reasons I wanted this so much was because I knew how close Hibs are to having that success.

“A lot of pressure goes with that but if you’re a manager who’s not relishing the chance to win trophies it’s something you might have to reconsider.

“I feel we’re in a very good position to get that success. We’ll hopefully be winning this trophy for Chris as well.”

Milne praised the mental strength of his players for continuing to produce the goods despite the loss of their manager at the business end of the campaign.

He added: “Chris leaving at this point in the season could have been mentally challenging for the players. The fact they’ve put it behind them and produced the goods shows the character they’ve got.

“There’s no question about their ability, they have proved they can challenge the best teams. It’s just that mental toughness aspect now.”
