Paddy has helped me try to impress City

-

BRANDON BARKER has thanked his former team-mate Patrick Roberts for helping him secure a switch to Hibs.

The winger moved to Easter Road on a season-long loan from Manchester City at the start of the season and has been in fine form for Neil Lennon’s side.

Baker is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Roberts after seeing his successes with Celtic over the previous two years.

The Hibs star said: “We’re similar players. We’re both wingers and both like to dribble a lot.

“When I saw him doing as well as he did it gave me a bit of hope.

“I know Patrick very well. He’s obviously learning his trade here in Scotland just like I am. He’s had a very successful time with Celtic over the last 18 months and is back now to hopefully do that again.”

While his immediate focus is on playing for Hibs, Barker refuses to give up on achieving his dream and playing for Manchester City.

He added: “City keep tabs and watch me every week. Hopefully they like what they see and who knows what can happen in the future.

“There are lots of wonderfully gifted young boys there who will never play for Man City – maybe I’m one of them, I’m not sure yet.

“You’re just there to compete at the end of the day and hopefully one day I can compete in that team.”
