Spat with old gaffer Jim broke my Mart

PARTICK new boy Martin Woods has opened his heart on the pain he suffered after a bust-up with former Ross County gaffer Jim McIntyre.

The midfielder left Dingwall as a free agent in the summer despite having triggered another year on his contract.

McIntyre deemed Woods surplus to requirements and they ended up embroiled in a massive row.

Woods, who won the League Cup with the Staggies in 2016, insists they have since made up but admits he felt bitter for weeks after being left without a club.

Ahead of Partick’s trip to Ibrox today he said: “It was the first time I had fallen out with a manager.

“It was strange situation knowing the boys wanted you out there with them on a Saturday but you were in dispute with the manager.

“In the last couple of weeks myself and my old manager have sorted it out.

“But I was bitter for a few weeks especially during pre-season because it was alien not to be working.

“It maybe could have been sorted in the summer or in the weeks afterwards.

“Things were probably said by both parties that we regretted.”

Now Woods is determined to make up for lost time with the Jags.

The 31-year-old said: “These last few months have been horrible.

“Every Saturday when Jeff Stelling came on the TV at lunchtime I was like, ‘Get me out of the house!’

“I couldn’t even watch the results coming in.

“It was hard but I can’t wait to make up for that lost time with Partick.”
