HE’LL PLY HIS TRADE

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

PLY can continue his upward curve in the London Series Final Handicap at Kempton.

Roger Charlton’s three-yearold oozed class when completing back-to-back wins at this venue a month ago.

The gelding should still be on the upgrade on the all-weather (3.20) and can shrug off an 11lb hike under in-form William Buick.

CONSIDERED OPINION (2.20) is a confident selection in the fillies’ contest. Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old showed a willing attitude to land her maiden at Wolverhampton this time last month and can come on plenty when switched to handicaps.

BEST OF DAYS (2.50) can maintain Godolphin’s glory run in the Listed Floodlit Stakes.

The Azamour colt is a Group Two performer at best and can build on an eye-catching third at Newmarket last month.

Hugo Palmer’s GULLIVER (3.50) can defy a welter burden in the sprint. The three-year-old has been thriving in cheekpieces and will take all the beating after scoring cosily at Lingfield.

And GLENN COCO (4.20) can claim the seven-furlong handicap for Stuart Williams. The lightly raced grey opened his account at Wolverhampton and his handler will have left plenty to work on.

■ Gun Runner (11-4) showed his rivals no mercy in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar.

Steve Asmussen’s star powered clear in the straight to beat Collected (13-2) by two lengths with 2-1 favourite Arrogate fifth while Churchill was the best of Aidan O’Brien’s raiders in seventh.

■ Coneygree sustained an overreach in Saturday’s Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby and will miss the Betfair at Haydock.

But trainer Mark Bradstock is confident the 10-year-old will be fit for the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury on December 2.

Cue Card is reported to be fine after his fall albeit handler Colin Tizzard will wait a few days before making any concrete plans.

■ Our Duke is “sound” after his Ulster Champion Chase flop, said trainer Jessica Harrington. The gelding was reported to have scoped badly by Harrington after trailing in last of the seven finishers at Down Royal.

She said: “They took some bloods from him and we’ll take it from there. I just don’t know and I’m scratching my head. He was gone after the first fence.”

■ Willoughby Court (2-5) was a workmanlike winner on his chasing debut at Huntingdon. Ben Pauling’s gelding jumped poorly and had to be pushed out by Nico de Boinville to justify short odds.
