A West of space
THE Tories and Labour are both guilty of constant internal bickering and attempts at scoring points against each other.
The government have taken the country into a referendum with major consequences and it’s clear they have very little idea of what they want for the future, let alone any clue how to get it.
Now we have the major embarrassment of so many MPs from all parties who can’t seem to behave the way most of us would expect – and they want to waste time and money to come up with new standards of conduct.
Is it just me who thinks the Westminster political system is not fit for purpose in any way, shape or form? Stuart, Glasgow
Real pension plea
I SEE workers got an hourly 30p rise in the real living wage to £8.75. This is £11.10 a week extra on a 37-hour week. What about a real living wage state pension?
Most older pensioners like myself get £122.30 a week – about £3.30 an hour. Next year because of the triple lock we get a three per cent rise – a whopping £3.67 a week extra. I paid into that, like others, for 50 years.

Jail tax dodgers
Yet again the rich and famous have been caught out stashing their money in tax havens.
It is about time that both tax avoidance and tax evasion were made criminal acts with mandatory prison sentences.
