GARETH SOUTHGATE has had his England plans disrupted after a string of injuries ripped through the squad.

Harry Kane took a kick on his leg on Sunday and underwent a scan yesterday with Spurs anxious no risks are taken.

He has been withdrawn from the squad for the friendlies with Germany and Brazil along with midfield clubmate Harry Winks who had a scan on an ankle injury.

Chelsea stopper Gary Cahill and Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson have remained at their clubs and both could miss out. Everton’s Michael Keane and West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore have been drafted in.

Spurs’ Dele Alli has already pulled out because of a hamstring injury and more replacements could be drafted in.

Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham insists he never thought about quitting England to play for Nigeria. The Nigerian FA tried to sign up Abraham even though the on-loan Swansea striker has already played for England Under-21s.

But the London-born 20-year-old said: “I see myself as being a long-term England player. That is where my main focus is and I am 100 per cent focused here to try to get into that team.

“The interest from Nigeria was flattering. They tried to roll out the red carpet but my main focus was here.

“It was nice to know I was doing something right but it’s all about England.”
